"The Elder Scrolls 6" is one of the highly anticipated titles in the video games industry and Bethesda's Todd Howard has shared an update on the game's development status and release window.

Skyrim Grandma, YouTuber Shirley Curry who gained popularity online for her "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" gameplay videos, has one request to Bethesda and that is to get her hands on her favorite game's sequel before she passes on. However, Grandma Skyrim will have to wait a little longer as Howard has seemingly confirmed that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is still years away from its official release.

Howard confirmed that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is in its pre-production phase, which means it might take three to four years before the game is completed. The executive also revealed that Bethesda will work on "Fallout 5" following the release of "The Elder Scrolls 6."

In an interview, Howard said, "Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we're going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate's pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well." Howard earlier confirmed that the team had been thinking about the next "Fallout" iteration.

"Fallout's really part of our DNA here. We've worked with other [developers] from time to time – I can't say what's gonna happen. You know, we have a one-pager on Fallout 5, what we want to do," Howard said in a previous interview.

The game is still a few years away since the studio's next game scheduled to release sometime in 2023 is "Starfield" and after that is "The Elder Scrolls 6."

"Starfield," the sci-fi RPG, is Bethesda's first new IP in decades and with its 1,000 planets, gamers will have a fun time with the game while "The Elder Scrolls 6" completes its development.

"The Elder Scrolls 6" was announced in 2018 and was initially scheduled to launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as on PC. However, following Xbox's acquisition of Bethesda, it will most likely be launched as an Xbox exclusive.
