Warner Bros. had just recently closed the deal to create Archie Comics live-action movie, Deadline Hollywood reported. What is more to this news is that there can be a possibility that Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead will be joined by another famous character to date, the Zombies.

Jason Moore, director for Pitch Perfect was already contracted to direct the live-action movie while screenplay was assigned to Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who wrote Glee. Producers for the live-action film are Roy Lee and Dan Lin. Executive producers are Jon Goldwater, Krishnan Menon and Jon Silk.

Archie Comics publisher and CEO Jon Goldwater expressed his excitement about the whole project. "We're thrilled with the team that Warner bros., Dan and Roy have put together here. Roberto has become a prolific comics writer for us, and having Jason Moore is the icing on the cake as Pitch Perfect is one of my favorite movies."

Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasahad wrote a four-part series of the Archie comics entitled, Archie Meets Glee. For this reason, he was said to be the perfect man for the job.

The script's plot and theme will have a "high school comedy based on the original line of Archie Comics set in present day Riverdale."

Writer Aguirre-Sacasa, earlier this year, had signed a contract to write an Archie Comics series with flesh-eating zombies - this incited the rumor and excitement that the live-action movie will indeed be including zombie characters.

Actually, his "Afterlife Archie" strip of Archie Comics tackled a zombie apocalypse in suburban New York. The first part of the strip was dubbed, "Escape from Riverdale". The second part of the strip was dubbed as "Betty RIP." He admitted that the strips he had written for Archie Comics had gore in them but will still be balanced with "elements that are quintessentially Archie."

He said that these strips he had written will not replace the original Archie Comics but are just a breath of fresh air to the usual Archie Comics edition.

During an interview with Deadline Hollywood in March, writer Aguirre-Sacasa said that writing for Archie Comics "combines two of my great passions: Archie comics and horror comics."

According to the writer, Archie Comics zombie series were conceptualize while he was having a conversation with Mr. Goldwater. Mr. Goldwater asked him, "What if the Archie characters found themselves in a Stephen King novel like The Stand or a Sam Raimi movie like the Evil dead? Could we pull that off tonally? We're really going for it."

Also, writer Aguirre-Sacasa is known for having a touch of horror with his work. He had fixed the Broadway musical, Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark and he had just finished writing the script for the remake of the horror film Carrie.

All these factors weighed in, gave hints that the Archie Comics live-action movie will be going toward the same gore backdrop.

Mr. Goldwater has high hopes for the Archie Comics live-action movie. "Archie has remained extremely competitive enough to be a trend setter in contemporary comic books. We were the first to introduce a gay character into the storyline, and that was an incredible success. We've had different comics where Archie was married to Betty in one and Veronica in another. And the Archie Meets Glee was also a big success. But the core, the characters and Riverdale, remains part of the fabric of classic Americana."
