Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire breaks their silence when the band made an announcement via Twitter in July about their forthcoming album due for release on Oct 29. The tweet was accompanied by what seemed like the cover for their new album.

Arcade Fire's as yet untitled fourth album is their follow up to 2010's The Suburbs and is produced by former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy.

Murphy told Rolling Stone, "It's really f***ing epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I'm too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice. You know?

"There's a whole complement of people in that band who could have their own bands, or are a successful solo artist. They're all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming."

It has been the band's tradition to have a three-year gap between each of their records. They had been relatively unknown in the mainstream music scene, until they unexpectedly won the 2011 Grammy for Album of the Year for The Suburbs.

Their Grammy distinction made headlines for beating pop superstars such as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga in the category; and social media was stormed with questions about who Arcade Fire is.

Meanwhile, Big Day Out officially announced their lineup for the 2014 music festival in Australia in New Zealand. Arcade Fire together with Blur and Pearl Jam are the headliners for the anticipated event. They will be joined by Snoop Lion, Aussie band Tame Impala, The Lumineers, GroupLove, Toro Y Moi and more.

The 2014 Big Day out kicks off in New Zealand on January 17 and will begin its Australian leg at Gold Coast on Jan 19, followed by Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide and wraps up in Perth on Feb 2.
