The Apple Macbook Pro Retina has a new competition in terms of display features with the Asus Zenbook NX500.

The Apple Macbook Pro Retina has been the undisputed king of laptops ever since it came out on June 11, 2012. It features a sleek aluminum uni-body design that comes with the latest features and I/O ports, giving Apple's Macbook Pro Retina a big edge over other laptops. But the biggest feature that caught everyone's attention was its gorgeous retina display. However according to Engadget, the Asus Zenbook NX500 aims to challenge the Apple Macbook Pro Retina in terms of display features.

The Asus Zenbook NX500 is a beautiful ultrabook in an aluminum unibody design that features a 15.6-inch screen. What makes the Asus Zenbook NX500 stand up to the Macbook Pro Retina is its beautiful 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) display. The Apple Macbook Pro Retina already features one of the sharpest displays; a 15.4-inch screen and 2880x1800-pixel IPS display. However, the Asus Zenbook NX500 ups the ante with a 15.6-inch screen and 3840x2160-pixel 4K UHD IPS display. It also features a touchscreen for its display that enhances the Windows 8.1 experience. With the Asus Zenbook NX500 as competition, Apple's Macbook Pro Retina may have to consider releasing an upgrade to keep its title of having the sharpest display on a laptop.

The Asus Zenbook NX500 according to PC World, surely did not cut any corners with their design. Asus is sticking with their concentric brushed aluminum design for the lid, while the body features a matte brushed aluminum look with polished chamfered edges. On the audio side, the Asus Zenbook NX500 features Bang and Olufsen speakers with ICE power technology. These speakers are integrated into the keyboard design layout in a circular grille pattern (photo). The keyboard on the other hand is an island style keyboard, designed with a neon blue LED backlight. Under the hood of the Asus Zenbook NX500 is a powerful Intel Core i7 quad-core processor which provides the computing muscle. While NVidia GTX 850M graphics card takes care of the visual and gaming aspect. The Asus Zenbook NX500 also comes in three storage options; a 128GB SSD, 256SSD and a 512GB SSD storage. The Asus Zenbook NX500 also provides three USB 3.0 ports and a 6-cell battery promising about seven to eight hours of juice from a single charge.
