In development since 2009, many have assumed that “Forgotten Memories: Alternate Dimensions” by game developer Pshycoz Interactive would go the way of the dodo and get stuck in development hell. Thankfully, that isn’t the case as this 1990s-inspired mobile horror game is set to finally see daylight next month and will be available on a variety of platforms.

“Forgotten Memories” is an upcoming episodic mobile horror game that’s inspired by the likes of “Silent Hill” and “Resident Evil,” before the Capcom game became more of a shooter than a horror game. Throughout its six years of development, it has grown quite the following, with a Touch Arcade forum thread for the game going over 600 pages, just for this one game. It’s clear that the horror genre still has a lot of life to it.

The game’s very premise can be considered as either classic or cliché, depending on the cynicism of the fans. The game’s protagonist Rose Hawkins wakes up in a strange place she has never seen before and is on a quest to find a girl named Eden.

Psychoz Interactive has released a trailer for “Forgotten Memories” episode one, which can be seen below. The trailer boasts impressive visuals, with the intro of the video claiming that the gameplay being shown is for iOS devices. The game is also coming out for more powerful platforms like a Windows PC and the Nintendo Wii-U.

Pocket Gamer was able to get some hands-on time with the mobile title and came away impressed. The site stated that “Forgotten Memories” has all the hallmarks of a horror classic that hasn’t been seen since the dawn of the PlayStation 2, which was home to “Silent Hill 2,” a game many fans consider to be the best game in the “Silent Hill” franchise. Either way, that’s plenty of praise for a game that hasn’t been released yet.

“Forgotten Memories: Alternate Dimensions” will be available for iOS devices on April 23. The game is set to come out for the PlayStation Vita, Wii-U, PC and Android devices on a later date, as Touch Arcade has confirmed that it will be on iOS first for the time being.
