Several users of LG Nexus 5 smartphone, ASUS Nexus 7 and HTC Nexus 9 tablets have reported a major issue on the Wi-Fi connectivity of Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware. Users revealed essential details and do-it-yourself solutions at the Developer website in order to resolve the major problem.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Plaguing LG Nexus 5, ASUS Nexus 7 and HTC Nexus 9 Owners on Android 5.0 Lollipop

Owners of LG Nexus 5, ASUS Nexus 7 and HTC Nexus 9 who updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop reported a major problem on Wi-Fi connection stability. According to the official Android developer website, LG Nexus 5 running the LPX210 and LPX13D are affected by the Wi-Fi instability issue wherein the device only saves the Wi-Fi network but unable to connect and transfer data.

It goes the same with a user of ASUS Nexus 7 and HTC Nexus 9 running the LPX13D and LRX21L firmware build versions respectively. Fortunately, the Wi-Fi instability is not happening to every Nexus owners as some reported functional Wi-Fi connection on Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 but there is no exact explanation why some users cannot connect normally to Wi-Fi including "work network" without tweaking some aspect of the network while others can.

One of the owners found a way around to establish connection to Wi-Fi "work network." The solution worked on Nexus 5 and Nexus 9 at the same time connecting to singular "work network" using the following steps:

1. On HTC Nexus 9, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Tap on the network name > Disconnect > Forget. Then apply the same procedure on LG Nexus 5.

2. Go back to HTC Nexus 9, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Select the network name > Connect. It has been applied to the LG Nexus 5 as well.

Other details reported by suffering users include Wi-Fi unable to connect using toggles but connects if manually set on the Wi-Fi settings menu, unable to detect Wi-Fi network even after retyping the necessary login keys and requires the device to reboot to work normally. As of this time, no single solution for this problem is available to resolve the Android 5.0 Lollipop Wi-Fi issue on Nexus devices.
