"Pretty Little Liars" has done two things this week. The show returned last Tuesday after it rested mid-season; at the same time Aeropostale launched its capsule collection inspired by the ABC family drama series in collaboration with the show's costume designer Mandi Line.

Line once told Huffington Post that she sources the characters' outfits from both high-end and low-end retailers. But as to why she collaborated with Aeropostale for this collection, Line tells Entertainment Weekly, 'I really wanted to [work] with a retailer whose price point was [appropriate]. I want the kids and the parents to be able to afford it.'

Line also tells Dhani Mau of Fashionista.com that she wanted a retailer that will keep up with four entirely different collections.

'You don't want to always be trying to please the brand, you want the brand to want to want to work with you,' says Line further.

Indeed, the clothing line features four different collections named after each of the four main characters, namely Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna. The items from each collection is based on the characters they represent; the most notable of which are the tomboyish yet chic look of the Emily collection and the preppy vibe of the Spencer collection.

Part of the PLL clothing line is the 'Who is A?' jacket, a zip-front hoodie type which is currently on sale for US$36.

Various sources, however, notes that Aeropostale could use this collaboration to its benefit. According to Buzzfeed, the retailer saw a 15 percent drop of sales over the past three months due to the teenage shoppers' shfit away from the brand.

On the other hand, "Pretty Little Liars" is now touted as ABC Family's most successful show, with almost 2.6 million viewers per episode last season. Also, fans are not only ogling about the characters' outfits every episode; but, as Huffington Post notices, they have long been requesting for a clothing line inspired by the show.

The "Pretty Little Liars" line is an ongoing one for Aeropostale, and Line promises that each set will be truer to the show than the last as she gets comfortable with the retailer's design team. She's also confident that the collection will bring in unlikely customers, which she describes as 'a Pretty Little Liars customer who's like, 'Wow, Aero? Really?''
