When the Discovery Channel aired its 'Eaten Alive' documentary, more than 4 million viewers tuned in hopes to watch a human swallowed by a giant snake. However, all the fuss ended in nothing but a collective groan.

The title and the promotional video promised that the program will show a human, who will be protected in a 'snake-proof' suit, swallowed by a giant snake. However, the pre-taped program failed to deliver its promise, as claimed by multiple tabloids. Paul Rosolie, an enthusiast and American naturalist who performed the stunt is now being ridiculed at social media for chickening out of the task too soon as opposed to his tall promises made earlier.

Thousands of viewers who tuned in specially to watch the show was welcomed by Rosolie in an astronaut like 'snake-proof' suit. He then doused himself with pig's blood and crawled around the snake to attract its attention. The poor snake soon took the bait and encircle him around his upper torso.

Rosolie immediately started feeling immense pressure on his arm, causing him to shout for help and urging the stunt to be abandoned. The anaconda was soon yanked away but the viewers were left confused and grasping for more.

The netizens were not so amused by the whole stunt. The social media was soon flooded with comments ridiculing the Rosolie and his team of not standing up to their promises. Vox.com even claimed that the whole show did not look like a documentary and was somewhat "staged and dramatized."

The tabloid has raised several points questioning the credibility of the whole idea of the show. It is claiming that the snake which they have chosen for this show was too small to eat any human. The questions are also raised on Rosolie's certification as a herpetologist and his background.

Discovery has however released an official statement supporting Rosolie and his team's efforts. The channel has said that Rosolie did this stunt to attract attention to Amazon Rainforest and it rich wildlife. "He went to great lengths to send this message and it was his absolute intention to be eaten alive", declared the channel to E! News. The channel also expressed concern over safety of Rosolie as well as Anaconda.

Rosolie told later in the interview with Entertainment Weekly that the giant snake was trying to suffocate him. He recalled the whole experience as extremely horrifying as the snake wrapped around him very tighhtly which cracked his protective suit as well.
