Basking in the glory of the well-received Mi4 and Redmi 1S smartphones, Xiaomi is apparently gearing up to release the successor to its Mi Pad 7.9 tablet. Back in October, the upcoming next-generation Xiaomi Mi Pad showed up in a benchmark testing site and the benchmark revealed some of the key features of the tablet. Meanwhile, a recent report states that the tablet has cleared China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, or MIIT, certification.

In addition to passing MIIT certification, a few configuration details have emerged as well. Reportedly, the Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet successor will support 4G LTE networks. Along with China Mobile-specific TD-LTE, the international LTE FDD support will also be present in the upcoming device, GSM Arena states.

Outside of China, Xiaomi has already made its presence felt by making handsets with cutting edge features at an affordable price range. Therefore, it is only obvious that the company makes devices with international LTE support. If reports are true, the new device will be capable of making voice calls. However, the display size of the device is pegged to be 9.2-inch touch-screen. Needless to say, making phone calls on a 9.2-inch big device will look over-the-top.

Moving on to the pricing details, the Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet will reportedly cost CNY 599 that roughly translates to US$97, AU$113 and 78 euro. However, GSM Arena opines that the device might only retail for CNY 499, which translates to US$81, AU$94 and 65 euro.

As far as the other key specifications go, the Xiaomi Mi Pad successor will reportedly feature 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution, complementing the humongous 9.2-inch display. The tablet will be powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by a modest 1 GB of RAM. On memory, the Xiaomi device will come equipped with 8 GB of internal storage capacity.

On the other hand, Xiaomi made history by selling 50,000 units of the 7.9-inch current-generation Mi Pad tablet on the launch day and consequently ran out of stocks. Quite interestingly, the 50,000 Mi Pads were sold within 3 minutes and 59 seconds, according to Fone Arena.
