World's first Qualcomm Snapdragon 810-powered smartphone is in fact manufactured by none-other-than the chipmaker Qualcomm itself. The device in focus is Qualcomm's latest Mobile Development Platform (MDP) smartphone.

In theory, the development platform device like MDP translates to working samples of the latest technology from the chipmaker. Such devices will be released several months prior to making its way into different OEMs and in turn to customers' hand, according to Phone Arena.

Moving on to the key specifications of Qualcomm MDP smartphone, the device features a seriously-big 6.17-inch display with QHD resolution of 1,600 x 2,560 pixels resolution. In case, the display size like 6-inch+ becomes the norm, the 7- and 8-inch tablets will not be required at all, opines the same site. Under the hood, the handset is powered by Qualcomm's own Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC and Adreno 430 governing the graphics unit. Additionally, the handset runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and backed by a solid 4 GB of RAM.

Speaking of camera, the Qualcomm MDP handset sports a respectable 13 MP OIS rear-facing camera unit with dual-LED flash. In addition, the primary camera can record 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 60 fps. There is also a 4 MP front-facing snapper unit for capturing good selfies and the frontal unit can record 1080p videos at 120 fps.

Notably, there is no dearth of sensors in this unique handset. This includes 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, along with ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, pressure sensor, UV sensor, temperature/humidity sensor and Mobeam (barcodes with blinking light) sensor. Furthermore, a total of 8 microphones are housed on the device.

Other key features include 11.1 surround sound system with Dolby and DTS, Bluetooth v4.1, USB v3.0, Snapdragon StudioAccess technology and SecureMSM digital rights management. Adding a cherry on top, there is a fingerprint reader on the back side of the device. Lastly, the entire configuration is held together by a good Li-Ion 3,020 mAh battery unit.

Interested readers can order the MDP phone from Qualcomm's site Intrinsyc. It is worth noting that, the shipments will commence towards the mid of December.
