Students walk out of Samsung Electronics' headquarters in Seoul July 7, 2014. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Tuesday said operating profit likely fell 24.5 percent in April-June, its lowest in two years due to slowing growth in the company's cash cow smartphone business and the strength of the South Korean won. Samsung launched Galaxy S5 Plus back in October. This handset is an upgraded version of the 2014 flagship Galaxy S5.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is identical to the Galaxy S5, except for the powerful chipset housed in the smartphone. The latest device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor, instead of the Snapdragon 801 chip, seen in the flagship phone. Additionally, the new chipset comes with an improved quad-core Krait 450 processor, along with the latest Adreno 420 governing the graphics department, according to GSM Arena.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S5 Plus also comes equipped with faster LTE connectivity. This means, the handset can now support advanced Cat.6 LTE, which offers up to 300 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink speeds.

Speaking of availability and price, the latest smartphone can now be purchased from eBay, specific to Germany. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is priced at 400 euro, which roughly translates to AU$581 and US$501. Notably, another retailer named Telekom-Aktion was caught selling the same handset for a whooping 530 euro.

Apparently, Germany is an important market for Samsung. According to the same source, Germany was reportedly one of the first EU markets to get the upgraded version of the Galaxy S4 in 2013, straight after its launch. In the coming weeks, the South Korean conglomerate is expected to launch the Galaxy S5 Plus in markets outside of Germany.

Moving on to the key specifications, the Galaxy S5 Plus features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. This combination translates to a pixel density of 432 ppi. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) Krait 450 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz and backed by a respectable 2 GB of RAM. Speaking of camera, there is a 16 MP rear-facing unit with LED flash and a 2 MP selfie shooter at the front. Plus, the device runs on Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat) along with Samsung's TouchWiz UI. This Samsung handset comes with 16 GB and 32 GB of in-built storage and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB.

The Galaxy S5 Plus is IP67 certified, hence, it has dust- and water-resistant exterior. Importantly, the device comes housed with fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone and also for making mobile-based payments. This whole configuration is held together by Li-Ion 2,800 mAh battery unit. The battery unit has the capability to provide up to 20 hours of 3G talk time. Lastly, the handset also supports wireless charging, Infrared port and NFC.
