Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 in December last year. Now, the company aims to bring the same Windows update for newer devices like Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3.

The Redmond giant is speculated to be working on Windows 10 Mobile ROM for OnePlus 2 smartphone that was released in the third quarter of 2015. It will be also bringing its ROM to the unreleased Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3 smartphones, Nokia Power User reported. The Windows 10 Mobile ROM will allow users to experience Microsoft mobile OS on the Android platform.

As the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 came in two separate variants featuring Android and Windows 10, the Xiaomi Mi 5 rumours also suggest the arrival of a dedicated variant running on Windows 10 Mobile. On the other hand, speculations are also indicating that instead of releasing Windows 10 Mobile variant, the Mi 5 will be able to run Microsoft’s OS through its ROM.

By partnering with Chinese firms like Xiaomi and OnePlus, the Redmond giant sims to make the Windows 10 Mobile ROM available for numerous smartphones. Microsoft is yet to launch the final edition of Windows 10 Mobile OS to the supported devices.

Last year, it was expected to launch Windows 10 Mobile OTA update in December. However, its arrival has been delayed until the end of this month. Meanwhile, the company has been consistently releasing preview builds of Windows 10 Mobile for users who have registered for Windows Insider program.

As of this writing, the only Lumia devices that are running on Windows 10 Mobile OS are Lumia 950, 950 XL, 550 and 650. Microsoft is also rumoured to be working on a new flagship smartphone. The mysterious Lumia will arrive with topnotch specs like 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 820 chip and 4 GB of RAM.
