The actor’s costume reportedly pays homage to the original comicbook character.Comicbookmovie claimed 20th Century Fox has released its first image of Hugh Jackman in his Wolverine costume for “X-Men: Apocalypse” on its Twitter page X-Men Movies. Jackman is also seen giving off an angry scowl while he brandishes his claws. The image was captioned “FIRST LOOK: Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse!”

According to Comicbookmovie, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine costume is described as “comic book accurate” since it’s reminiscent of the character’s classic look in the comics. A photo comparison from Marvel also highlights the similarities between the two costumes.

Hugh Jackman’s wolverine costume was also featured in one of the deleted scenes from “The Wolverine.” Blu-ray copies of the film featured one scene from the finale where Logan was given his brown and orange mask. However, it's still uncertain if Comicbookmovie's photo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is official as the studio has yet to formally announce its release.Hugh Jackman recently teased his final portrayal as the Wolverine on his Instagram page. The actor shared a photo of his character’s iconic claws and captioned it,” Wolverine…One Last Time. HJ.” The actor is set to appear in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and still has a Wolverine sequel, “Wolverine 3,” to make. So it’s uncertain which of these two films Hugh Jackman was referring to for his last stint as the clawed mutant.

Hugh Jackman has been portraying the role of Wolverine in the “X-Men” franchise and in his solo Wolverine film since 2000. There were previous rumours of him finally retiring after all these years, since at his age he may reportedly not be able to handle the demands his character brings, such as performing the heavy action sequences.

However, according to IGN, his statements during the Happy Sad Confused podcast confirm he will still carry on the iconic role in the future. Talking about “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the actor said “there are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie.” Hugh Jackman also confirmed that he’s still “working really hard” with director James Mangold on “Wolverine 3.”
