It’s a classic case of “fashion victim” as the expert handling the case likes to call it. A 35-year-old woman’s super tight jeans led to stopping the blood supply to her calf muscles. Later, she collapsed and had to crawl out of a park at night, seeking help.

Associate Professor Thomas Kimber, a consultant neurologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital reportedly told 891 ABC Adelaide, the woman felt her legs turning weak before she tripped and could not stand up again. Professor Kimber also mentioned that the woman reportedly spent the entire day helping her relatives shift houses, which made her do a lot of squatting. However, he still labelled her a "fashion victim".

She did feel somewhat uncomfortable wearing a skinny pair of jeans the day she had to help her relatives move houses, said the professor.

She spent the entire day squatting down in order to clean out the cupboards, later noticed her legs becoming increasingly uncomfortable as the day passed by. She apparently chose to ignore it, added the professor.

"When she went for a walk she noticed she was tripping; her feet became increasingly weak to the point where she fell in a park," Professor Kimber clarified.

"By this time it was dark and quite late at night and she was unable to stand up again, and really was there for some time before she could crawl to the side of the road, hail a cab and bring herself to the Royal Adelaide Hospital."

Jeans Had To Be Cut Off To Treat Her

The neurologist said, due to a massive swelling in her calf muscle, the medical staff had to cut the jeans from her. However, she recovered after receiving proper treatment in the hospital.

Though she had some residual ankle and foot weakness, subsequently she made complete recovery.

Meanwhile, to avoid such injuries, the neurologist suggested wearing loose clothing, especially when one knows there would be a lot of squatting involved.
