Microsoft's most recent edition of the Windows 10 update – build number 14279 to users on Fast Ring of Windows Insider - was released last week, but is already causing freezing issues on devices like the Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3 and Surface Book.

An official Microsoft blogpost that announced the arrival of Windows 10 build 14279 has confirmed the update causes the aforementioned devices to freeze, including stopping the functioning of all kinds of inputs such as touch, keyboard and trackpad.

The Redmond giant is currently investigating the cause of the problem, but has said users can temporarily resolve the issue by restarting their devices by pressing the power button until it reboots. It is expected to release a permanent fix for the issue soon.

The preview builds that have been released to Fast Ring are the test version of its latest OS update. One needs to be aware of the fact that the builds that are released to Fast Ring are known to carry more bugs and issues than to the users on Slow Ring.

Microsoft has not made any announcements as to whether it has pulled down the build 14279. Hence, users of Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3 and Surface Book may want to skip the update altogether and upgrade to a more stable build that will arrive soon.

There are some other known issues with the Windows 10 build 14279 for users on Fast Ring. After installing the build, Kaspersky products like Anti-virus, Internet Security and Total Security Sure may stop working properly. Users with Wi-Fi routers configured to WEP security may also face connectivity issues.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is reportedly working on a newer build of Windows 10 Mobile for Insiders. The build number 10586.14 is expected to be very stable and will allow Lumia devices on Windows Phone 8.1 to migrate to Windows 10 Mobile seamlessly, Win Beta reported.
