“War for the Planet of the Apes” is scheduled for release this year, and it is expected to showcase a connection to the original series. Based on the recently released trailer, a young girl will be featured in the film, much like the previous movies.

As fans have learned in the first “Planet of the Apes,” the young girl is named Nova. Trailer for "War for the Planet of the Apes" sees the young girl hugging Maurice the Orangutan (Karin Konoval).

Nova was also seen riding a horse while Caesar (Andy Serkis) was staring at her. The character was portrayed by Linda Harrison in the previous films. Now, a new Nova has been chosen and it is no other than Amiah Miller.

Miller is best known for her role in rhw 2016 American supernatural horror film “Lights Out” as young Rebecca. She was also picked to play Young Sara in upcoming US film, “Trafficked.”

The continuity between “War for the Planet of the Apes” and “Planet of the Apes” and “Beneath the Planet of the Apes” has been unclear up to this point. But for some fans, Nova’s presence in the upcoming film is the most obvious connection yet.

Director Matt Reeves has recently teased fans about what to expect from “War for the Planet of the Apes.” He said that this time, the battle is not just only between the apes and humans, but it also has something to do with Caesar's soul. “The girl is his pull back to his empathy and - for lack of a better word - his human side,” Reeves told Entertainment Weekly.

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” which was released in 2014, jumped forward 15 years after the events of the first film. Reeves has stated that the new movie is set shortly after “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

"War for the Planet of the Apes" is slated to be released in Australian theatres on July 13. Release date in the US will follow on July 14.
