“Star Wars: Episode 8” will reportedly have a connection to the “Rebels” animation series. A new report reveals more details about the little alien creatures that were previously described as the protectors of the planet Ahch-To.

[Spoiler alert]

A previous leak about the movie had suggested that there are little bird-like creatures on Ahch-To that are actually the “protectors” of the planet. A new report by Making Star Wars elaborates on the creatures and suggests that it is possible that these creatures are actually the convorees from the animation series.

The source, who is familiar with the developments of the movie, did not explicitly confirm the convorees in the film, but said “leave some room open for the animated shows’ interpretation.”

The report points out that the convorees have appeared at crucial moments in the “Star Wars Rebels” TV series, so they may know a lot about what’s happening in the galaxy. It is not clear how they will influence the storyline in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”

Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is on Ahch-To, and has been there for many years. The sequel will reveal why he is there and what he has been doing all this time. The report speculates that the convorees are there to preserve and protect ancient and sacred knowledge, which the Jedi could use to further beat the Sith.

In “The Force Awakens” it was teased that Luke Skywalker was out looking for the First Jedi Temple. Will this temple be located on Ahch-To, and will the convorees be the key to unlock the lost knowledge of the Jedi?

More details about “Star Wars: Episode 8” will be revealed at the Celebrations event in April. The first official trailer and a title reveal are expected at the event, along with some hints about the plot and new characters.
