“The Voice” Season 9 coach Gwen Stefani has considered her new album to be a “breakup record.” The album follows her split from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

In a radio interview with San Diego’s 93.3 on Tuesday, Stefani dished some information about her upcoming album. The singer came on the radio show to promote her new single “Used To Love You,” which is also included in her new album.

“I didn't even know the single was coming out. I promise you that it was very last-minute,” she said.

The "No Doubt" frontwoman pointed that her new single came out the same week as the 20th anniversary of her band’s “Tragic Kingdom.” She also said the setbacks in her life recently made her hold on to her faith and closer to the people around her.

“It just makes me believe in God and my journey. My cross to bear was to go through these heartbreaks and write these songs and help people,” the singer said.

“Used To Love You” talks about Stefani’s 13 year marriage and “unexpected” divorce with Bush lead singer Rossdale. The singer debuted the “special” song in October during her MasterCard Priceless Surprises concert in New York.

Stefani’s song “Used To Love You” has already hit more than five million views on Youtube. The nearly 4-minute music video shows the artist up-close with the camera, expressing different emotions -- sadness, pain, frustration and anger. Sophie Muller directed the video.

Last month, the 46-year-old artist told Entertainment Weekly that she had to scrap an entire collection on her third solo album because “it didn’t feel right.” Stefani revealed that she involved herself more in the new record due to her divorce.

Stefani announced her split with Rossdale in August and said that the decision is mutual. Now, Stefani and Rossdale share legal custody of their three sons -- Kingston, 9; Zuma, 6; and Apollo, 17 months.

The Grammy-award winning singer is currently dating her fellow “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton, who also divorced his spouse this year. The news was confirmed on Nov. 6 when the two artist were spotted holding hands while walking at the Warner Music Group Country Music Association (CMA) after-party.

Stefani’s third solo album will release early 2016. The album remains untitled.
