“Vikings” season 4 episode 16 and the following episodes will not seek the presence of Travis Fimmel as his character Ragnar Lothbrock, the infamous Viking, is dead and Fimmel says no dead character will come back on the show.

2016 is ending on the sourest note. People had not yet overcome the news of George Michael and Carrie Fisher’s death. However, when they opened their TV sets to escape all the death the year had brought, they were devastated again to see Ragnar, their favourite character die.

Although his death was predicted a long time ago, it was still an emotional moment for the audience to see him die terribly in a pit of snakes. It was upsetting to know that the story of the show will be taken forward in “Vikings” season 4 episode 16 without him.

‘I’m not returning,’ says Travis Fimmel

Fimmel has revealed that he is not going to return as Ragnar in the show. “I’m not returning. It sort of doesn’t make sense. My character is an atheist so I’m not going to be coming up in any ghost, religious ghostly images or anything. I think you have to be very religious for people to have that belief in you,” Fimmel was quoted as saying during an interview with Hollywood Reporter.

Ivar will take the lead now

Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) will take the lead from now on. He has already had many lessons from his father on how to convert his weakness into his strength; how anger is a gift and how it can be used intelligently. Ragnar’s final words will definitely lead Ivar down a trail of vengeance along with his brothers.

As Ragnar said before dying, “One day the whole world will know and fear Ivar the Boneless.” The fans of the show wait to see how Ivar will emerge as the greatest Viking after Ragnar.
