The TVD fans will be saying goodbye to a cast member exiting as a series regular in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6. The CW TV series has been renewed for a new season but the latest reports claim actor Steven R. McQueen, who portrays vampire hunter character Jeremy Gilbert, will no longer be a part of the show.

According to a TV Line report, TVD cast member Steven R. McQueen will no longer be a series regular in the CW TV series after "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 14 titled "Stay." Executive producer Julie Plec shared in an Entertainment Weekly report that it is now time for the 26-year-old actor to "go out and live his life."

"He's growing up and moving on. He will be out living a real life," Plec shared. The executive producer further explained that TVD character Jeremy Gilbert's exit comes as the CW TV series moves towards its conclusion.

Julie Plec revealed that the cast and crew of the show are currently in the third act of their storytelling with everything that is happening serves a move towards the end. "Over the course of the next few years, we will need to start having the characters make choices about what they want with their lives and say goodbye to some people. It's all part of moving toward the end, however long that takes," Plec explained.

For the TVD fans wondering if they can still see Jeremy Gilbert in the show, Julie Plec teased that the character could appear at weddings, funerals and the series finale. The TVD big boss revealed on Twitter that Jeremy Gilbert will be leaving his sister Elena (Nina Dobrev), his love interest Bonnie (Kat Graham) and his hometown Mystic Falls to go to an art school.

"Jeremy Gilbert applies to art school. No really. #tvd 2015 #dotheyhavecrossbowsthere," Plec posted on her Twitter account @julieplec last Dec. 12, 2014 to tease the fate of the TVD character in the latest season. The Mystic Falls gang will return on the second half of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 with episode 11 titled "Woke Up With a Monster" which is scheduled to air on Thursday night, Jan. 22, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
