A new face will be joining the cast of the new CW TV series titled "Jane The Virgin" when the show returns from its holiday break this January. The latest casting reports revealed that actress Jane Seymour has landed a recurring role in the pilot season of the comedy-drama series.

An exclusive USA Today report confirmed that the 63-year-old award-winning actress will be in "Jane The Virgin" opposite actress Gina Rodriguez, who portrays lead character Jane Villanueva in the CW TV series. The report further revealed that the British-American actress, whose work credits include "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" and "Franklin & Bash," will portray the character Amanda.

The new character will be the leader of a romance writer's group that Jane Villanueva decides to join in the second half of the pilot season. "We are all so thrilled and honored that Jane Seymour will be joining us," Jennie Snyder Urman, the show's executive producer, declared in a released statement.

The new TV series, based on the Venezuelan telenovela "Juana la Virgen," is the story of Jane Villanueva who vows to keep her virginity until she gets married. However, Jane's life plans took an unexpected turn when a doctor artificially inseminated her by mistake during her checkup.

"Jane The Virgin" currently has two Golden Globes nominations. According to a Gold Derby report, actress Gina Rodriguez has the leading odds of winning the "Best TV Comedy Actress" award against close contenders Julia Louis-Dreyfus of "Veep" and Taylor Schilling of "Orange is the New Black."

Gina Rodriguez's win would place the 30-year-old actress on the same page with the other actresses recently distinguished by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) such as America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty," Anna Paquin of "True Blood," Jennifer Garner of "Alias" and Keri Russell of "Felicity."

The report further noted down that the reasons why several Gold Derby experts, editors and users put the "Jane The Virgin" actress on top of the list is because Gina Rodriguez is young, beautiful and the star of a hip new show. "Jane The Virgin" is scheduled to return on Monday night, Jan. 19, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the CW Network.
