Silas (Paul Wesley) is not wasting any time getting what he wants in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 Episode 2 titled "True Lies" and her name is Katherine Pierce. New faces, new storyline and new enemies have emerged in the latest season of the CW TV series which will certainly keep the TVD fans hooked in finding out what surprising and exciting event will happen next.

Spoiler Alert: This review recaps the highlights of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 Episode 2 called "True Lies."

Damon Salvatore Searching for Brother, Stefan

While Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is away at college, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) back at home is dealing with things on his own. He tries his best to keep stuff from his girlfriend so she would not worry like Silas on the loose, Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R McQueen) almost killed in a car accident and the search for his missing brother, Stefan, with the help from Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre).

The Dynamic Trio: Jeremy, Matt and Katherine

With Silas on the hunt for Katherine, Damon requested Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) and Jeremy to keep the human Katherine out of sight. However, Matt and Jeremy have a hard time putting up with Katherine as she whines about human experiences like a scratchy throat and headache plus her dirty little schemes of escaping.

Dr Wes Maxfield Makes a "Creepy but Hottie" Impression on Elena and Caroline

Elena and Caroline (Candice Accola) are still baffled with the mysterious death of their roommate Megan (Hayley Kiyoko) but they carry on living their new college life and attend their classes as freshmen. The two girls ended up by mistake in the class of Dr Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) who left a strong impression on the girls making them describe the professor as someone "creepy but hottie."

Silas' Mind Control

Silas paid Elena a little visit at college and revealed what Damon has been hiding from her including his little brother Jeremy getting expelled from school. Elena obviously gets upset with Damon lying to her and Silas used that to control Elena to kill Damon.

Elena got Damon tied up to a chair and ready for the kill but Damon figured out that Silas used his mind control power over Elena calling it the "Silas Trance" so he tried his best to make Elena resist the "rage" by thinking about Stefan. Amidst the chaos, Damon knows that it all goes back to Katherine and he is still figuring out what exactly Silas wants with her.

The Bonfire Party

Jesse (Kendrick Sampson) has been showing interest with Caroline and was able to do so after having a moment with her at the bonfire party. Will Caroline forget about Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) and start afresh with this new yet mysterious guy? At the bonfire party, Elena was also able to gather information from Jesse when he spilled some details about Dr Maxfield.

Jeremy vs. Silas

Jeremy Gilbert used his skills as a hunter to fight off Silas when he was able to track where Katherine is. Silas "temporarily" killed Matt after finding out that mind control will not work on him since the gypsies/travelers were already inside his head. Jeremy was about to lose to Silas, but Katherine shot Silas twice enabling them to get away from him.

Matt Meets Bonnie on "The Other Side"

Matt discovers Bonnie's secret when he meets her on "The Other Side" after Silas snapped his neck, but once Matt returns to his body, thanks to the supernatural ring, he will have no memory about the truth that Bonnie is dead. He finds out as well that Bonnie is still having a hard time dealing her dad's death. "How can you deal with his death if you can't deal with your own?" Matt declares to Bonnie and it made her realize that she is still not ready to be dead yet.

Stefan's Out and He's Hungry

Elena's connection to Stefan has helped him to get by from the underwater trap and he is now out and very hungry. A promo video for TVD Season 5 Episode 3 titled "Original Sin" has been released and it shows Stefan Salvatore walking into a bar and attacking the bartender to quench the hunger and thirst he had to go through for months.

The next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 airs on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW network.
