Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, top featherweight contender Conor McGregor never runs out of bravado. In his latest controversial statement, the 26-year-old Irish mixed martial arts fighter has baptized the featherweight division as “The McGregor Division.”

The up and coming UFC superstar was on hand during the UFC 184 pay-per-view and gave extended appearances after the event particularly in lending a hand in promoting the Reebok ZPump, one of the sports apparel being marketed by the UFC in partnership with the shoe giant. During the event, McGregor gave a quick interview with MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani and discussed various topics such as his admiration for women’s MMA, his looking forward to a Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano rematch and his upcoming title fight with Jose Aldo.

McGregor bared his bravado in full force when he claimed the featherweight division as his domain and even went on to re-naming it as the “McGregor Division.” The proclamation is the latest in a series of big talks that paints the road red towards his collision with Jose Aldo on July 11 at UFC 189.

“Now it's the 145-pound division; well, it's actually the McGregor division. Wherever I go we'll be ahead of whoever is on the card. It's that simple. I will certainly push for over one million buys. It's a big, big fight people want to see,” McGregor told Helwani in the recent interview (per MMA Torch).

Despite being billed as a co-headliner with the welterweight title bout between Robbie Lawler and Rory McDonald, McGregor was confident in his proclamation that his next appearance in the Octagon will generate the vicinity of a million pay-per-view buys. To his credit his UFC Fight Night with Dennis Siver despite being billed as one of the weekly UFC schedules, generated a lot of business for Dana White and company.

The numbers for UFC Fight Night 59 spoke a lot on the charisma of McGregor as it produced a record-breaking night in terms of viewership. Figures estimated showed that more than 3 million viewers tuned in when the former CWFC featherweight champion stepped into the ring. Given the following of “Notorious” it is not impossible to assume that the number in sight will not eclipsed especially that the UFC is offering two title fights in one night. Still, McGregor hopes to be in the record books and be the first man since Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman in 2010 to pass beyond the million mark. Watch the video of McGregor’s interview below:
