One of Liverpool's possible solution to their struggling attacking-line in January can now be ruled out, as striker Wilfried Bony pens a one-year extension with Swansea City, which will tie him with the club until 2018.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international proved that he can be a force in the Premier League despite just moving from Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem last season, racking up 17 goals along with 9 more from other competitions like the Europa League, bringing his total tally to 26.

He has been heavily linked with the Reds and Arsenal, among other clubs, but from the looks of it, they might have to wait until the ongoing campaign ends, at the very least, before the Bingerville native could make the next big leap of his playing career.

Swans boss Gary Monk is pleased with such development as he can now concentrate on leading his side, who are currently placed fifth in the top-flight, without having to worry that his star striker might be snatched by bigger sides.

"It's great news for the club," said Monk.

"I've spoken a lot about what Bony has brought to the club not just on the pitch but off it as well."

"These types of players are ones that we do our best to keep at the club for a long time. But it's also important that we see commitment from that player towards the club, his team-mates and the fans."

"Bony has shown that he is very committed to this club by signing an extension here."

Swansea will be hosting holders Manchester City on Saturday, as they hope to crack the top-four.
