Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will still not be seeing action despite earlier reports claiming that he could be suiting up any time soon.

The 25-year-old England international managed to play full 90 minutes during the Reds' first three top-flight games before he was sidelined for a thigh problem. An issue in his calf hindered an earlier return and just when he was tipped to be finally available against Crystal Palace on Sunday, his thigh acted out.

"Liverpool Football Club today confirmed scans have revealed Daniel Sturridge has sustained a new thigh injury," the club said on its official website.

"The player will remain unavailable for selection but will be monitored and assessed during his recovery."

Meanwhile, Liverpool's attacking-line, led by summer acquisition Mario Balotelli along with Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, has yet to produce goals among themselves in the Premier League.

Italy boss Antonio Conte believes that the former Inter Milan man, who has so much potential to become a great player, is turning out to be a hopeless case due to his attitude, a claim that was echoed by Italian and AS Roma icon Francesco Totti.

"I'm not so arrogant as to claim that I'm different from the great coaches, but the past tells us that they failed to change Balotelli," Conte told Raisport.

"It'll be up to the player, but I don't have much time and I need certain things."

"I would not give advice to Balotelli. Everyone tries to, but he does not listen to anyone," said Totti.
