Former FC Barcelona manager and now-Argentina overseer Tata Martino believes that Lionel Messi could possibly make his way through the exits of Camp Nou.

There has been much speculation surrounding the three-time Ballon d'Or winner lately, with some suggesting that he is growing to be unhappy with a change of role for the squad. He has, at times, been deployed in his old position at the right wing by Barca boss Luis Enrique, which is seen to generally reduce his effectiveness of being a goalscorer and a creator, as opposed to playing a centrally upfront.

With the Blaugrana failing to impose themselves as "the team to beat" in recent years, the diminutive Argentine might be thinking of taking on a fresh challenge.

"When you see the connection he has with Barca I think it would be very difficult for him to leave the club," said Martino.

"However, when you see the options out there in the world, the big teams where he would fit in perfectly, then I think it's possible."

"But I definitely think he should be happy where he plays his football."

Meanwhile, Jorge Messi, Leo's father, assured that there is no truth to all the hoopla, at least, for now.

"As of today there is nothing at all," Jorge told Mundo Deportivo.

"The thought is to stay here, but as people read between lines there is exaggeration."

"Leo is happy, but it is clear that if tomorrow the club says, 'we have this offer, we want to sell you,' well then we would have to study it. But as of today, we are not even thinking about that."
