The first British woman to break into the American market with her “The Tracey Ullman Show” for Fox channel Tracey Ullman is all set to make her comeback in BBC with a six-episode season of the famous show, according to BBC. The announcement was made by the corporation on March 3. The British actress and comedienne is homeward bound after a gap of 30 years for her new stint. It was in the 1980s when she did shows like “Three of a Kind” and “A Kick Up the Eighties”.

In 1985, she was cast as the promiscuous gold digger Candice Valentine in “Girls on Top” aired on ITV. She starred on the show alongside Jennifer Saunders, Ruby Wax and Dawn French. It ran for two series, with Ullman bowing out after the first.

Ullman emigrated from the UK to the U.S. in the late 1980s, where she gave the cartoon strip The Simpsons its first chance on television. She has won seven Emmys and also a Golden Globe for her work. Before heading for her American dream, she had built a career on the stage and then found fame on television among comedians like Lenny Henry, Rik Mayall, Robbie Coltrane and David Copperfield.

With assets worth a whopping $115,000 million, Ullman has several expensive homes in Los Angeles with her husband Allan McKeown. She has also acted in Hollywood films like “The Corpse Bride” and “Into the Woods”. The actress told that it was a privilege to work for BBC again.

“The BBC has changed a bit since the last time I worked here, when it was all men in bow ties who had completed National Service. Now there are a lot more women,” she said speaking to BBC. She added that the corporation provides an environment where people are free to create the best shows and there are many “great” women working in BBC now.

The BBC controller of comedy commissioning Shane Allen said that it was great to have her back on the British screen, through BBC. She added that the Americans should return her to where she belongs as she is a gem for the British comedy scene. A source said Ullman has immense talent and it was a great moment for BBC as she chose to return to its show.
