Fans already know that “Thor: Ragnarok” will see Chris Hemsworth’s (Thor) new look as main superhero, and he will have a new weapon to come with it as seen in a movie poster released. Now, director Taika Waititi is teasing fans with more details about the movie, particularly on its plot and characters.

The director is confident that his film will reinvent the franchise. Waititi hints a fresh plot as they make an effort to present some new ideas. “A lot of what we’re doing with the film is, in a way, kind of dismantling and destroying the old idea and rebuilding it in a new way that’s fresh,” he teased.

Entertainment Weekly has learned that that the film will help prepare the mood for “Avengers: Infinity War,” which is going to be Marvel’s biggest Phase 3 instalment. Although this is the setup, Waititi is resolute that “Thor: Ragnarok” is one that can stand on its own.

As for the plot for each character, the director revealed that all of them will present a new take on their roles. “Everyone’s got a slightly new take on their characters, so in that way, it feels like [this is] the first Thor,” he said. Waititi added it would look like a first Thor film, with “a just a little less hair.”

Speaking of Thor’s hair, Hemsworth had previously talked about having to cut his locks for the film. He said it is something that feels like a rebirth. “It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Aside from the character of Hemsworth, fans can also look forward to see how Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will change the game in the approaching film. There are reports that he will be revealed as the father of evil character, Hela (Cate Blanchett) as what the comics suggest. Waititi, however, has not confirmed this to be true. For the meantime, fans can be assured that the film will see a fight between Thor and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger, as confirmed by the film’s synopsis. Loki, on the other hand, will reportedly help Thor look for their missing father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

“Thor: Ragnarok” also stars Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge) and Jeff Goldblum (The Grandmaster). It is slated to hit US theatres on Nov. 3. The film is expected to be released in Australia on Oct. 26.
