“Thor: Ragnarok” is all set to come out this year and nothing can stop Chris Hemsworth (Thor) from sporting a new look for the film. Some reports are saying that the main protagonist will fight with a new weapon too, apart from his hammer.

Hemsworth has recently talked about preparing for his role in the film, particularly on his look. The actor has to cut his locks and that was okay for him. “It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Hemsworth’s character in “Thor: Ragnarok” only proves that even heroes need a makeover sometimes. In the past films, Thor’s hair looked like it had a little Nelson-circa-1990 vibe. Fans can definitely see the Norse god getting his locks shorn in the upcoming film.

Thor’s hairstyle is not the only thing new in “Thor: Ragnarok.” He will have a new weapon too. The film synopsis revealed that the hero is missing his hammer. On the first official image for the film, Thor is holding two swords. Fans of Marvel movies are used to seeing Thor fight with his mighty hammer, which he also uses to fly. The hammer is so powerful that it can call down lighting and plow through the Earth.

Some fans may be wondering why Thor is holding swords instead of a hammer in the first official image for “Thor: Ragnarok.” The answer is quite simple and the comics have it. In the comics, the Asgardian prince was abandoned by the hammer after a whisper saying he is not worthy of his weapon. While fans were left wondering about the possible reason, a Reddit user theorised that the god is too strong with his hammer. Others thought they would only know once the movie is released.

But the synopsis hints differently. If the synopsis was taken in consideration, Thor might simply have lost his hammer when he was taken captive. “Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger,” the synopsis revealed.

The film also stars Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Karl Urban (Skurge) and Jeff Goldblum (The Grandmaster). “Thor: Ragnarok” is slated to hit US theatres on Nov. 3. The film is expected to be released in Australia on Oct. 26.
