Prince Carl Philip of Sweden has reportedly been chosen as one of the godparents of Prince Nicolas, the son of his sister Princess Madeleine. The baby prince will be baptised at the royal chapel in Drottningholm Palace located in the outskirts of Stockholm on Oct. 11.

Members of the Swedish royal family and close friends will attend the royal christening, where Madeleine’s brother Carl Philip will play an important role. The Swedish publication Expressen was the first to report that Carl Philip has been chosen as one of Nicolas’ godparents.

The 36-year-old royal married his fiancée Sofia Hellqvist in June in a lavish royal wedding. He got married just two days before his nephew was born. Carl Philip is also the godfather of his three-year-old niece Princess Estelle. The child is the daughter of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel.

Baby Nicolas is the second child of Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her businessman husband Chris O’Neill. The couple also has a daughter, Princess Leonore, who is 19 months old. Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf, who was born on June 15 at Danderyd Hospital, will be christened in the same chapel where his sister was baptised.

The sixth-in-line to the Swedish throne, baby Nicolas will be baptised in the same gown that King Carl XVI Gustaf, Princess Victoria, his cousin Estelle and his big sister Leonore wore during their christening. The water that will be used in the ceremony will come from a spring in Öland. This was confirmed by the Royal Palace of Sweden.

The royal christening will be broadcast live by STV, contrary to its earlier statement that it will not telecast the baptism live, Royalista reports. The officiating clergy will be The Most Reverend Antje Jackelén.

A reception will be hosted by King Carl Gustaf XVI and Queen Silvia at the palace, which will be followed by a private lunch. It will be attended by the entire royal family, including Prince Carl Philip and his wife Sofia Hellqvist (Princess Sofia). The pregnant Crown Princess Victoria will also attend with her husband Prince Daniel and their daughter Princess Estelle. Representatives of the Riksdag and the government will also be in attendance.
