“Supergirl” has cast Kevin Sorbo for a recurring role in the current season of the series. The news was announced shortly after it was confirmed that actress Teri Hatcher will be part of the show as an unnamed villain.

Sorbo is best known for his portrayal of Hercules in “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda.” In “Supergirl,” he will also be a mysterious new villain just like Hatcher’s character per the Hollywood Reporter.

Details are scarce about Sorbo’s role in the television series, but he is sure to make the life of Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) harder. As to which episode of “Supergirl” season 2 Sorbo’s character will appear on is still being kept under wraps.

In a statement, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has recognised that since his days as Hercules, the actor has had strong screen presence. Kreisberg has exclaimed that everyone could not be more excited to have Sorbo in the series.

Sorbo has played Capt Dylan Hunt on “Andromeda” for five seasons. The last time his fans saw him on television was in 2005, when the said show has ended. Now he is making a comeback on the small screens in “Supergirl” season 2. The actor is represented by TalentWorks and Marsh Entertainment.

Sorbo has also appeared as Professor Radisson in the 2014 film, “God's Not Dead,” Holt Blanchard in 2011 film “Soul Surfer,” as himself in television show “Don't Trust the B,” among others. In 2010, the actor has won a Grace Award for Most Inspiring Movie Acting for “What If.”

News about his casting in “Supergirl” comes days after reports that “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” star Teri Hatcher is joining the show. Hatcher has landed a recurring role as a villain in the second half of the show’s sophomore run. Her involvement in the television series has reunited her with former onscreen partner Dean Cain (Clark Kent/Superman in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), who plays Kara's foster father.

It seems Hatcher’s inclusion in “Supergirl” season 2 is specifically a good news for Kreisberg, who previously shared that the actress is her favourite Lois Lane. For the executive producer, it feels like a wonderful gift for him to see the actress playing a totally different role in “Supergirl” season 2.

Since the two actors will both star as antagonists in the series, they are anticipated to have interesting schemes to bring Supergirl down. “Wonder Woman” star Lynda Carter was also featured in the show as a female president, Tyler Hoechlin of “Teen Wolf” as the Man of Steel and “Superman” alum Helen Slater as Kara’s adoptive mother. “Supergirl” season 2 airs in Australia every Tuesday at 9:10 a.m. on Fox8.
