“Supergirl” has cast actress Teri Hatcher to play a recurring role. Viewers of the DC Comics series will be able to see her in a currently undisclosed villain role in the second half of the current season.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has shared that Hatcher is actually her favourite Lois Lane since the start of time. “No offence to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favourite Lois Lane,” she said.

Kreisberg said it feels like a wonderful gift for her to have the actress in the series in a totally different role. She thinks it feels the same way for the fans of “Supergirl.”

Fans of Hatcher may be used to seeing the actress play good girls, like in "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," in which she played a reporter and Superman's love interest. She also played Lois Lane's mum, Ella Lane, in another Superman-based series, "Smallville." But this time, Hatcher will play a different role that her fans would not dare to miss.

TVGuide.com has reported that the “Lois & Clark” actress is the new “big bad” of the season. Although her role is surrounded by mystery, viewers may expect that she will greatly affect the life of Kara or Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in the series.

The actress has also starred in the popular TV series “Desperate Housewives,” wherein she played single mum Susan Mayer. The role won her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The series ran from 2004-2012.

“Supergirl” cast includes Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), Jeremy Jordan (Winslow "Winn" Schott), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Floriana Lima (Maggie Sawyer), and Chris Wood (Mon-El) among others. Fans will get to see more of the cast and Hatcher’s incoming role in the remaining episodes of “Supergirl” season 2.The show airs in Australia on Fox8.

Last month, US TV network The CW has announced that "Supergirl" has been renewed for a third season. It has also renewed most of its most popular shows, including “Arrow” (season 6), “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” (season 3), “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” (season 3),, “Jane the Virgin” (season 4), “The Flash” (season 4) and “Supernatural” (season 13).
