Asa Butterfield has been rumoured to have already landed the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. While Marvel and Sony has yet to officially confirm his casting, the actor on the other hand may have just responded to the rumours.

According to Comicbook, Asa Butterfield recently responded to reports of him having been cast as the new Spider-Man. Few news outlets have reportedly been using old photos of the actor to back up their reports. These images are apparently back when he was still young and still much shorter. Asa Butterfield commented on one particular report on Spider-Man that caught his attention. The headline stated “Asa Butterfield cast as the New Spider-Man.” Somewhere along the other comments the topic of his height was somehow brought up, to which the actor replied, “Well actually, I am 6’ tall.”

According to Comicbook, Asa Butterfield neither denied nor confirmed that he has been cast for the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. But it’s interesting to note that he reportedly deleted his comment soon after it was posted.

Asa Butterfield reportedly also had some few responses about the role when the topic of who should be the next Spider-Man was discussed in Reddit three months ago. Comicbook shared a screenshot of the discussion, although failed to point out which Reddit username belongs to the actor. According to the site, Asa made a couple of comments so the username Stimpers could have belonged to him.

From the Reddit forum Asa Butterfield a.k.a. Stimpers replied to one post about how the new Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot shouldn’t be a teen heartthrob but a “thin little bespectacled dweeb.” He said, “I can do ‘thin little bespectacled dweeb’ pretty good, not far from myself actually.” Then the actor also replied that he is “so down” when asked by another user if he is “down to clown” as the new Spider-Man.

Comicbookmovie once cited a source who claimed that Asa Butterfield has been cast already for the role of Peter Parker since he’s been Marvel’s choice to portray the character since “day one.” However, Marvel and Sony have yet to officially comment on the actor’s involvement in the “Spider-Man” reboot.
