Robert Downey Jr. confirmed that the producers are looking to cast Spider-Man and the character may appear in “Captain America: Civil War.” The actor is currently promoting his latest movie “Avengers 2,” which has already been released in Australia and other countries.

Appearing on the TV show “Late Night with David Letterman,” Robert Downey Jr. was asked about “Captain America: Civil War.” The actor was specifically asked about Spider-Man and which superhero would win in the movie. A video of a segment of the interview has been posted on the official YouTube channel on the show.

Robert Downey Jr. did not reveal who would win the fight between the two popular superheroes in the movie. When asked about who the people should root for in the movie, the actor said that the people should decide and later pointed at himself to seek their support.

The actor did not reveal the names being considered for the role of Spider-Man. The franchise for the superhero is currently with Sony Pictures, but a recent deal allows Marvel Studious to use the superhero in some of its upcoming movies, including “Captain America: Civil War.”

One of the actors who is currently said to be in the race to be cast as Spider-Man is Nat Wolff. The actor is known for his role in the hit 2014 movie “The Fault in Our Stars.” The actor spoke to MTV about the rumours surrounding him being cast as the wall crawling superhero and the video of the interaction has been posted on YouTube.

Nat Wolff refused to comment on anything related to the casting of Spider-Man and actress Cara Delevingne, who was with him during the interview, said that she would “kill” him if he has got the role and didn’t share that information with her. The actor also did not confirm whether he met with the studio executives for the role.

“Captain America: Civil War” will be assembling a large number of superheroes who will appear on either Steve Rogers’ or Tony Stark’s side in the movie. The Spider-Man character plays an important role in the storyline of the comic books, on which the upcoming movie is based.
