Sony reduces PlayStation 4 price in time for the holidays
Sony has confirmed that there are going to be massive discounts for the PlayStation 4. It looks like the company is granting gamers' wishes in various countries just in time for the holidays.
Now that the holiday shopping season is near, Sony has slashed the price of 500 GB PlayStation 4 console. It would appear that the massive discount is the company's attempt at making their gaming consoles more attractive to potential buyers, Tech Times pointed out.
Considering that the PS4 has always been a strong seller in the gaming industry -- even trumping the Xbox One from Microsoft -- the huge price cuts are expected to end up reeling in more sales.
"Since the launch of our PS4, our aim has always been to provide players with the best gaming experiences at the best value," Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog. "We have been thrilled with the amount of players who have joined our world!"
Starting on Oct. 21, the 500 GB variant of the PlayStation 4 will be available across the SCEE region with a new price. As indicated in the report, the console will cost differently in most countries. For Australia, the PS4 can be bought at a discounted price of $479.95.
Although the report only mentioned PS4 price cuts for Australia, Portugal, New Zealand, Benelux, Germany, Italy, France, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom and Austria, Sony assured gamers that the price drop is not limited to these countries only. Potential buyers from the UK, however, seem to be at a disadvantage, since the UK premium is more expensive than in other tech markets.
This latest news about PS4 discounts surfaced shortly after Sony decided to slash the console's prices in the United States and Canada. Earlier this month, Sony gave a huge discount to the 500 GB PS4 version, reducing its price to only US$349.99 (AU$483.45).
"We feel this new compelling price will open the doors to even more gamers that have yet to purchase a system," the company stated.
