Sony announced its new flagships the Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium on Sept. 2. Three days after the announcement, the Japanese tech company has slashed the price of its new smartphones.

After officially showcasing all the three Xperia Z5 variants on Sept. 2, Sony had listed them on its U.K. online store on the very next day. The Xperia Z5 Compact was listed for £549 (AUD $1203), the Xperia Z5 was priced at £599 (AUD $1312) and the Xperia Z5 Premium was listed for £699 (AUD $1531).

Now, the prices of all the three smartphones have been slashed on the Sony UK online store. The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is now priced at £429 (about AUD $940). The new price of the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is £549 and lastly, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium’s cost has been brought down to £629 (about AUD $1378), uSwitch reported.

The new pricing indicates that the Z5 Compact is now available with 22 percent discount, the Z5 carries 8 percent discount and the Z5 Premium is discounted by 10 percent, Digital Trends reported. Sony has not announced the reason behind offering price cuts on its new flagships. However, the company may have taken such a decision in order to stay competitive in a market that is ruled by Apple and Samsung.

According to uSwitch, the day-one pricing of Sony for the Z5, the Z5 Compact, and the Z5 Premium may have resulted in poor reception from potential customers. A report from Android Authority states that Sony will be releasing a 1080 pixels resolution supporting edition of the Xperia Z5 Compact exclusively for the Japanese market.

The handset will carry the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium moniker. It will be featuring Snapdragon 810 chip, 4 GB of RAM and 2,900 mAh battery. The Xperia Z5 Compact for global audience supports HD resolution of 720 pixels on its 4.6-inch display and is powered with Snapdragon 810 chip, 2 GB of RAM and 2,700 mAh battery.
