The "Hit the Lights" singer won't be hitting another chart topping song this year. Sorry Selena Gomez fans, but the Disney princess has said it already: She'll be taking a break this 2012.

"We're going to take a break from music," says Selena in an interview with E! News. "My band and I are going to chill on that for a second."

Does this mean she's got more time for boyfriend Justin Bieber? Well, her fans do hope so but unfortunately there won't be another aw-inducing date planned because Selena has a few projects she's focusing on. Her date with the Bieber at the Laugh Factory may be the latest one so far.

Apart from taking a break from making music, Selena will also be saying goodbye to her family of wizards on her much loved Disney show, "Wizards of Waverly Place." Apparently her fans aren't too happy about the shows' finale.

"Definitely not, according to my Twitter feed and everything else," shares the star. "Of course we could stay on, but we want to do other things. We want to move on. The show will live on forever, and obviously, we're all grateful for it."

So with her recording career on pause and her series coming to an end, what's keeping Selena Gomez aside from supporting the love of her life, Justin Bieber?

Selena is said to star in the film "Springbreakers." Directed by Harmony Korine, Gomez is said to play the role that is completely opposite of the singer's image. The film is about four college girls who end up behind bars after robbing a bank and the mayhem doesn't end there.

Fans will have to wait up until 2013 before they get to see Selena in all her "bad girl" action. She'll be acting alongside Nickelodeon star Emma Roberts of whom has also placed a hold on her studies for filming.

"Springbreakers" isn't the only film Gomez is said to be working on but no word on what her other project is.

"They're both different and things I've never played before, so that'll be fun for me," shares Selena Gomez.
