The much-awaited technology and fan-favourite convention, San Diego Comic-Con, launched on July 21 in California. Gamers, cosplayers, toy collectors and anime lovers gathered to partake in the prestigious fan event. The convention featured appearances from well-known comic book authors, game developers and television personalities.

Over 160,00 fans from around the globe were expected to attend the event, which was scheduled to run from July 21 to 24. Con-goers with a special 4-day pass received loot bags and treats, courtesy of the SDCC committee. Attendees were free to enjoy booths decorated after popular titles such as "The Walking Dead."

Some of the popular writers and artists who were confirmed to appear at Comic-con are Jason Aaron, writer for "Star Wars" and Marvel's "Thor," and Allen Bellman, artist for the "Captain America" comics. Others included Matt Fraction of "Hawkeye" comics, author of "Neuromancer" William Gibson, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of the "Archie" series. Artist of the manga "Pokémon Adventures" Satoshi Yamamoto was also expected to appear. Marvel legend Stan Lee could be found during the autograph-signing segment.

Hollywood actors Chris Pine, John Cho and Karl Urban of "Star Trek Beyond" appeared at the event's premiere night. Some celebrities who scheduled to appear at the autograph-signing of the pop-culture event were Annie Wersching of “The Vampire Diaries," Clare Kramer and Camden Toy of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and Drew Roy of “Falling Skies." Voice actors, such as Debi Derryberry of "Jimmy Neutron," and Mindy Sterling from "Legend of Korra," were also there.

The cast of supernatural American series "The Originals" appeared on the third day. They were joined by stars from “Powerless,” "People of Earth" and "Lucifer."
