Samsung Galaxy TabPro S vs. Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Comparison of specifications, features, availability, price
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy TabPro S tablet during the pre-CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 event. The newly announced Windows 10 powered tablet from Samsung is dubbed as one of the best competitors for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
Dimensions and display
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S measures 11.5 x 7.8 x 0.24 inches and weighs 1.5 pounds. On the other hand, the dimensions of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are 11.5 x 7.93 x 0.33 inches and it weighs 1.73 pounds.
The Galaxy TabPro S features a 12-inch Super AMOLED screen that supports a resolution of 2,160 x 1440 pixels. The Surface Pro 4 comes with a 12.3-inch PixelSense screen that offers a resolution of 2,736 x 1,824 pixels.
Chipset and RAM
The Intel Core M3-6Y30 (sixth gen) chipset is present under the hood of the Galaxy TabPro S. It features a dual-core processor that works at a processing speed of 2.2GHz. It is supported by 4GB of RAM. The tablet is available in two SSD storage versions of 128GB and 256GB.
The Surface Pro 4 is available in different variants of Intel core (sixth gen) processors such as M3, i5 and i7. The tablet comes with multiple RAM variants of 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB, respectively. The Surface Pro 4 also features several SSD storage versions such as 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
Cameras, accessories and battery
The Galaxy TabPro S is fitted with a 5-megapixel camera on its front and rear sides. The Surface Pro 4 has a 5-megapixel camera on its front bezel whereas the rear side sports an 8-megapixel camera.
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is sold with a detachable keyboard. The removable keyboard of the Surface Pro 4 is available for purchase, but it comes with a free Surface Pen stylus.
The Samsung tablet is equipped with a 5200 mAh battery that can last of up to 10.5 hours. The exact size of the battery present inside the Surface Pro 4 has not been officially revealed. However, it is capable of lasting for 9 hours on general usage.
Release date and price
Samsung did not announce the Galaxy TabPro S tablet at the launch event. It has been revealed that the tablet will be available for purchase in the next month. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Intel core M3 chipset, 129GB SSD and 4GB of RAM is priced at AU$1,349. The Intel Core i7 variant with 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM is priced at AU$3,3799.
