Ever since it was released in 2010 for the older generation of Sony and Microsoft’s game consoles, a sequel to “Red Dead Redemption” has been on the wish list of a large group of players. After more than six years, gamers might finally get their hands on the title in the first quarter of 2017.

Officially, no announcement has been made on the part of Rockstar Games. However, fans of the “Red Dead Redemption” franchise can at least find relief in a statement made by Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games.

As GameNGuide noted, the executive has shared that “Red Dead Redemption” is considered a permanent franchise within the company. Furthermore, he shared that its sequel will be made soon and that fans just need to be a little more patient. From his statement, it seems that the title is coming within the next few months.

Other than Zelnick’s quick touch on “Red Dead Redemption 2,” both Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive have stayed relatively quiet on the sequel. Both companies have infamously kept quiet during this year’s E3, Gamescom and Tokyo Games. However, this should not really come as a surprise as the game publisher normally holds solo events for its more successful titles.

Unlike “Grand Theft Auto 6,” there are at least a few details that have been leaked about “Red Dead Redemption 2.” As Alphr has reported, the title is not expected to hit the market until at least April 2017. This is because Rockstar is reportedly waiting for more powerful gaming consoles to hit the market before the game is released.

In addition, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is estimated to actually be a prequel to the original story of former outlaw John Marston. The worth is also said to be worth it as the upcoming game will be almost three times larger than the original.
