To date, the PS4 has been hitting the sales targets, after it was finally launched in the U.K. Nov. 29. Sony seemed to even tallied the number of sales that the next-gen PS4 has received, since its first launch in North America.

According to Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, on PlayStation Blog Europe, the PS4 has exceeded the sales of 2.1 million. This is counting the expansion of the PS4 to 32 countries worldwide.

"The best part: the PS4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible line-up of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead," House in PlayStation Blog Europe said.

Part of this expansion has been the touted PS4 Gaikai technology, which has been said to release sometime in 2014.

The report said this may be tailored for advertisers who want to hinge on Sony's gaming devices. In addition to this, Sony may be following HBO in having original shows, which may be seen across genres.

"PlayStation Productions is dedicated to bringing high quality, professionally produced content to the PlayStation Network. Sponsorship and product integration opportunities are available upon request," according to a statement description in the Web site quoted by The Sixth Axis.

With this development, Sony may also be looking at entertainment as a branch of its gaming devices, with a potential that this won't just be made available for the PS4, but also the PS3 and other devices.
