Princess Sofia of Sweden said in a lighter vein that she was ready to change careers on Oct 5. Formerly known as Sofia Hellqvist, Scandinavia’s newest princess returned to her hometown Dalarna County along with her husband Prince Carl Philip. The couple tried their hand at baking a little something to go with their meal.

“I think I’m changing careers now,” a laughing Sofia told the Swedish media outlet Dalarnas Tidningar as she removed the warm loaves from the oven. Sofia and Carl Philip were at the Skedvi Brod, a crisp bread bakery in Landsvägen where, they were greeted with a platter of local specialties and warm Jerusalem artichoke soup for lunch, People reported.

The 30-year-old princess embarked on a two-day trip around the county where she grew up as Sofia Hellqvist prior to her high profile nuptials in June. The loving couple first stopped by in the town of Borlänge where they greeted the local children and well-wishers, before they called into the nearby businesses.

The 36-year-old prince and 30-year-old princess played peek-a-boo and clapped along with the youngsters at the refugee camp. The pair displayed their maternal and paternal sides as they picked up the children and played with them. Sofia said that she did not expect such a warm welcome from refugees, but she added that since kids were kids, they were doing a great job, Hello reported.

“This is the husband,” the princess joked, pretending to introduce Philip to a happy crowd of local well-wishers. Sofiia was moved with the warm welcome from the locals. On Tuesday, the pair drove to Alvdalen, the village where Sofia grew up after moving there when she was six, where they met and chatted away to the residents.

This is the first trip back for Sofia since she married Carl Philip. Also, she is not the only Scandinavian princess to enjoy a spot of public baking. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, during a recent visit to New York City promoted her local cuisine by rolling up some dough and baking.
