Prince William’s receding hairline is no secret. However, his thoughts on getting a hair transplant is somewhat obscured.

There are reports that say that the Prince is considering getting a hair transplant. All this talk surfaced after he was seen talking to Wayne Rooney, a British football player who got multiple hair transplants and openly talks about them. The football player became an inspiration to lots of men to get the procedure and, apparently, he also inspired the royalty, Daily Star reports.

It is said that the Prince commended the football player on how the hair transplant looked. However, bantering is normal for the prince when he is meeting football teams. There is a chance that he is simply joking, though he mentioned that he would not mind getting some help with his thinning hair.

A hair transplant procedure involves the surgical replacement of your growing hair and moving them to the areas that are already thinning out. For the procedure to be successful, you should still have growing follicles that grow out from the balding spot. Dr. Shahmalak of The Crown Clinic said that it may be too late for Prince William to get the procedure as the balding area is already too large. The procedure may fit Prince Harry better.

The 33-year-old royalty’s thinning hair has become more obvious lately. It is said that his hair is dramatically dropping out. Although he is not happy about it, Prince Williams is reportedly worried that people might ridicule him if he had a procedure done on it.

More so, it is reported that Prince Williams thinks that his family, especially the males, Prince Philip and Prince Charles would not approve. The two other Princes have a “deal with it and get on with it” attitude when it comes to thinning hair. The royal family is also known to have male pattern baldness in their genes. This has been evident with the hair thinning of Princes Philip, Charles and Edward.

However, research shows that thinning hair negatively affects a man’s self-esteem. Its common cause is androgenic alopecia, which is inherited. This explains the royal family’s traits. Anthony Oro, MD, PhD said that there are hairs with longer warranties and some have shorter ones. Prince William’s temples and sides have longer warranties, which is why they stay thick, while the ones on the top have a shorter life span, Yahoo Beauty says.
