The standalone 20th Anniversary DualShock 4 controller can now be pre-ordered as Amazon and GameStop will start shipping the limited edition gamepad on Sept. 30, according to reports.

Sony has not revealed any information on the availability of the gamepad in North America but the devices can be pre-ordered from Amazon and GameStop for $65, according to a report on Tech Times, which also mentions that Sony plans to put the limited edition gamepads on sale in Europe in September.

"Launching September across Europe, this limited edition controller is designed in the unmistakeable 'Original Grey' colour like the first PlayStation console and also features the iconic original colored PlayStation family logo," Sony said through its official blog post.

The 20th Anniversary Dual Shock 4 controller will be available in Black, Glacier White, Magma Red, Original Gray, Urban Camouflage and Wave Blue colour options, reports Tech Times. The publication also mentioned that the gamepad’s touchpad is available with dots instead of 1s and 0s.

The DualShock 4 for PlayStation 4 will sport a highly sensitive built-in motion sensor and a sleek touchpad and gamers can now easily post their PlayStation 4 moments on Facebook since there is already a ‘Share button at the top right side of the controller, reports Inqusitr.

According to SegmentNext, the Dual Shock 4 controller was initially available in a bundle with the 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4, out of which only 12,300 units were produced.

Sony and Microsoft battling in the controller segment

According to the Inquisitr report, the announcement of Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite Controller during the 2015 E3 conference has pestered Sony to push DualShock 4 commercially for PlayStation 4 users.

Sony and Microsoft have also been competing against each other over console storage space, with Microsoft releasing 1 TB Xbox One console about a month prior to Sony’s 1TB Ultimate Player Edition PlayStation 4, as per the Tech Times report.
