‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 2 Premieres May 3, Meet The Stars Who Are Set To Reprise Their Victorian Roles [VIDEO]

‘Penny Dreadful’ fans prepare yourself for all the core for the British-American horror TV show is back for its sophomore season on May 3. Created by John Logan (“Rango”), the show’s Season 2 premiere has been pushed back one week from its previous schedule, April 26, as it welcomes back recurring guest star Helen McCrory as Evelyn Pool or also known as Madam Kali.

Best known for its dark mystery and suspense, the Showtime period drama features a complex group of characters ranging from vampires, witches, evil spirits, werewolves and immortal beasts running around the streets of Victorian London. The show features many characters from 19th -- century Irish and British fiction, including the all-time favourite immortal Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

Here are the main stars of the show who will reprise their roles in “Penny Dreadful” Season 2.

Dorian Gray

Played by British actor Reeve Carney, Grey is an entrancing young man who cannot die. Confident but lonely, Carney’s character was described as reckless sensualist who has a “devil-may-care attitude that borders on dangerous.”

Vanessa Ives

The heroine of the show played by “James Bond” girl Eva Green, Vanessa Ives is a force to be reckoned with as she fights with inner demons and the evil around her. “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 features Ives forming a deeper bond with Ethan Chandler as he vows to protect her from the incoming danger.

Ethan Chandler

Charming and brash, Ethan Chandler is played by “Pearl Harbor” star Josh Hartnett who is set to reprise his role as a budding werewolf in the show’s upcoming season. Running from his troubled past, Season 2 features Chandler who is torn between staying in London or back to American as his secret continues to attract more attention.

Sir Malcolm Murray

Played by veteran actor Timothy Dalton, Sir Malcolm Murray is a hardened explorer of the African continent and was forced to kill his own daughter last season. Based on the show’s latest poster, Murray was pictured in a grey suit and creaming up at a cloudy sky. Fans are speculating that there is another tragedy that will send him into another emotional tailspin.
