Set to reprise his role as Dorian Gray in Showtime’s gothic thriller drama, “Penny Dreadful,” Reeve Carney talked about his character’s favourite costume in his recent interview. According to the actor, playing the omnisexual immortal is one of the challenges of playing Dorian Grey, and based on the people’s reception to the show, he is reportedly absolutely thrilled that he will get the chance to play the character on the show’s second instalment.

“One of my favourite costumes on the show — or one of my character’s favourites, I should say — is various states of undress,” Carney told Out. “That can be terrifying, and I’d never done anything like it, but the worst thing you can do in that kind of situation is go halfway. I try to go as far as I possibly can.”

Charming and ageless, Carney’s character has more intimate scenes than any characters of the show. Dorian was seen in such scenes with both men and women; he kissed Ethan (Josh Hartnett) and then went to bed with Vanessa (Eva Green).

Executive producer John Logan explained the show’s sexuality and revealed that “what makes us a human being is how we respond erotically to the world around us.” With so many extreme characters in the show, Logan is exploring their sexuality as they try to discover their own selves and fight their own demons.

Now that evil has a new face, “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 is set to bring more drama and surprises as it deals heavily with the occult. Madam Kali, played by Helen McCrory, is going to take centrestage as the show’s human antagonist as she throws everyone in supernatural world.

Meanwhile, Carney is currently working on his latest record, the follow-up to Mr. Green Vol. 1, which was released by his band Carney in 2010. After wrapping up the first season of “Penny Dreadful,” the actor has been focusing on writing new songs for his next album.

“Penny Dreadful” Season 2 is scheduled to return on Showtime on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The show’s new timeslot is one hour later than its original 9 p.m. premiere, so it’s no longer in competition to HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
