The cast and crew of “Outlander” season 3 are losing some sleep in South Africa, with the team now filming at night. The change in schedule has led to Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe doing some light hearted complaining online. Co-executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts has also confirmed the night shoots, and shared a new picture from the set.

What the viewers don’t generally see on the show, is all the hard work the cast and crew put in during the filming. What Heughan (Jamie) and Balfe (Claire) missed the most in the night shoots is a good night’s sleep. The two actors got into an online banter, with each competing to get more “zzz.”

The fans who have been closely following the news of the TV series will know about the “heard on set” teasers the producers give out from time to time. Heughan poked some fun at that tradition by sharing a “heard on the set” of his own. “Zzz…’Fraser’!...zzz” was heard on the set, according to the actor. It appears the actor snuck out to get some shut eye during a break.

Heughan also shared a picture of the chair he was given during the night shoot of “Outlander” season 3. The filming appears to have taken place at an outdoors location. Most of the interior shots have already been filmed in Scotland.

The night shoots have taken place two nights in a row now. The second shoot appears to be an interior shot, with Heughan teasing another chair.

The hectic filming schedule is beginning to take its toll on the actors. The production went on until late into the night, with the actors getting their “lunch” at midnight. It looks like Heughan managed to sneak in some snacks for himself. When he complained that the snacks were running low, a surprised Balfe asked him about what snacks he was talking about.

While the cast members have their concerns, the producers are also working hard along with them. Roberts was on the set when the night shoots were taking place, and he also shared a picture online, teasing the location where they were filming.

Just a few more weeks of filming of “Outlander” season 3 remains. The production is scheduled to wrap in June, and the show will premiere sometime in September. The updates from the set continue almost on a daily basis. The first teaser has already been released.
