Brianna and Roger are two major characters who are yet to be introduced in “Outlander” Season 2. While attempting to get the hair of the character right, there had to be a few changes made, cast member Sophie Skelton said in a recent interview.

[Spoiler alert]

Brianna (Sophie Skelton) is the daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan). According to the books written by Diana Gabaldon, on which the TV series is based, the new character has red, curly hair just like her father.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Skelton revealed how she had to go through some gruelling “trials” in order to get the red colour right, along with the hairstyle. On her first day on set she had to film for over 16 hours because they were unable to get the hair right.

“ Brianna is supposed to have the same kind of curly red hair as Jamie, but it’s the ’60s so it would be more straight with the fashion. So yeah, we ended up changing it,” Skelton said.

Roger (Richard Rankin) is the love interest of Brianna in “Outlander” Season 2. Both the cast members are anxiously waiting to see how the vast fan base of the TV series reacts to their debut on the show.

Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore said that casting both these roles was “tricky.” Since Brianna will be seen as the “adult child” of the two main characters, the producer had to make sure that the viewers saw a reflection of Claire and Jamie’s personality in their daughter immediately. The character also needed to have chemistry with Roger right from the get go.

Brianna and Roger will be introduced in episode 13 of “Outlander” Season 2. Moore teased that although the two characters have a strong presence in the episode, they won’t be seen “as strongly” in the next season. At first, the viewers will get to see these characters for briefer periods of time, Moore explained.
