BBC has officially set a date for the fifth and final season of its critically praised sci-fi series “Orphan Black.” The final season is set to air in June 10 at 10:00 p.m.This was confirmed by a Twitter post captioned “Welcome to the Final Trip.”

Viewers should prepare to be awed as star Tatiana Maslany is set to return to her Emmy-awarded role as multiple clones. The show began when Beth Childs (Tatiana Maslany) locked stares with an unknown woman, Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany), before she jumped to her death. Since that day, the two shared an inextricable link to a clone conspiracy that has risen to rule Sarah’s life. Later on, they search for a cure to a deadly disease that looks like it is about to kill off all of them and they run into a lot of trouble along the way.

What is interesting about this final season is that the first episode will shift from a Thursday to a Saturday, as the premiere is set for June 10. However, there has been no news if the series will continue to air on Saturdays all throughout its run, or will move back to a more prime time friendly timeslot in the following weeks.

While the BBC has been known for news and documentaries, “Orphan Black” served as the entry point to the scripted series genre. Fortunately, this marked an epic start because, later on, Maslany took home an Emmy for her roles in 2016. Fans of the series have been lobbying for her nomination since the show first aired. “Orphan Black” had so much love from its viewers that it had its own aftershow talk show titled “After the Black.”

When the clones were left at the end of season 4, an ailing Cosima claimed to have found the cure for the illness that plagued the clones. In the meantime, Rachel was about to meet her maker, Neolution founder PT Westmoreland.

The show’s co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett revealed that they are very excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her slew of clone sisters, writes Den of Geek. They have found the past four seasons to be a phenomenal adventure and they are very grateful to their loyal fans who have loved the show through all its twists and turns.

This upcoming season of “Orphan Black” will feature 10 episodes of the clone-based drama on the BBC in the US. In Australia, it will air on Syfy.
