This year, DC and Warner Brothers will be releasing “Justice League” and it is bound to be the biggest entry in the DC Extended Universe. This is a lot to expect, considering how wide the scope of the DC Universe is, and many would assume that they would see as many DC characters as possible when it comes out. Unfortunately, that is not a safe assumption to make.

Laurence Fishburne, while promoting “John Wick 2,” responded to questions whether or not the Daily Planet’s iconic editor-in-chief Perry White was going to show up in “Justice League.” Fishburne had been seen taking on the role twice in “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman.” However, he confirms that he will not be seen in the next DC movie, writes Slash Film.

He explains that he had been invited to come for a day but could not work it out because of a tough schedule. He also emphasises that his role is not that much needed in “Justice League,” where viewers are in to see The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Lantern team up. Fans have been waiting for 35 long years for these characters to show up together on the big screen.

As to DC’s idleness all these years, Fishburne quips that “Marvel has been kicking their ass.” He also clarifies that it is the comic book geek in him speaking. The actor himself has a collection of comic books and he has been waiting to see those characters team up on screen since forever.

Because the movie is titled “Justice League,” this means that most of its viewers will not feel an inherent need to know what the Daily Planet editor has been doing in every single chapter of the DC Expanded Universe, notes /Film. This fact is acknowledged by Fishburne himself, who also happens to be a fan of the franchise.

The actor was also asked about the negative response that “Batman v Superman” received. While he does not seem offended about his exclusion from “Justice League,” it is a different case for “Batman v Superman.”

The actor says that he loves what Zack Snyder does and that Jessie Eisenberg pulled off a great job as Lex Luthor. He also admires the Martha Kent and Martha Wayne plot, which he finds quite sentimental and heart warming, so he does not really get where the negative reviews come from.

“Justice League” premieres in theatres in November 2017. Green Lantern will reportedly not be part of the main cast but will appear in a “key sequence.”
